My roles should relate to me: Fahadh Faasil
The hero said relatability is his key character selection criterion. 'I choose the characters with which I can relate well,' he said.

Actor Fahadh Faasil is undoubtedly one of the most brilliant young actors in Mollywood. The protagonist of a much-celebrated real-life love story is gearing up for the release of his new movie with Amal Neerad called 'Varathan' (the immigrant.) The much-anticipated movie is also being produced by his wife and chic heroine Nazriya Nazim.

Now, not all the characters he does are Fahadh's type. While he stunned the audience with his subtle performance as a rural thief in 'Thondimuthalum Driksaakshiyum', his urban-bred care-free character in 'Role Models' also wowed them. Onmanorama caught up with Fahadh Fazil to ask Just One Question: What is Fahadh's criteria in choosing a character?

The hero said relatability is his key character selection criterion. “I choose the characters with which I can relate well. In the case of (2017 movie) 'Role Models', I had a classmate whose parents taught in the same college where we studied. I know how much pressure he had handled just to keep up with the expectations of his parents. I could easily relate with Gautham, my character in 'Role Models'. Same was the case with 'Maheshinte Prathikaram'. I believe in taking up movies and characters which I have encountered somewhere in real life so that I can easily connect with them and emote them well,” he said.

Responding to the question on 'Fahadh Faasil brand' in Malayalam movies, the actor said that he has a few enemies who cook up such false images about him. Actor shared a meaningful smile while saying that it is the filmmakers who struggle by casting him in contrasting characters one after the other.

“I choose to obey my directors. Be it Dileesh (Pothen), be it Raffi, the directors whom I work with have a clear idea about their projects. I think they would face the real struggle by casting me in distinct, contrasting characters. I haven't yet encountered a hurdle in transforming to any character I have done,” he added.

Fahadh revealed that he seldom interferes in his wife's professional life which is a propriety she returns. “We watch both of our movies. She makes genuine comments on all my works. She tells me openly if she dislikes my performance and also lauds my acting if she likes,” he said.

Nazriya is returning to the movies after a short break through Anjali Menon's 'Koode' released on Saturday.
