Unorthodox Malayalam filmmaker and actor and Santosh Pandit is the latest to join the controversy regarding inviting superstar Mohanlal as the chief guest of the state awards function. In a Facebook post, Pandit wrote that Mohanlal was a great star who deserved to be invited even for the Oscar awards.

“Not only the state film awards, Lalettan deserve to take part as the chief guest even at the Oscar awards. However, Mr. Prakash Raj, you shouldn’t have signed on that petition against Mohanlal. Both of you acted alongside in ‘Iruvar’. You are there in Lalettan’s forthcoming film as well,” wrote Pandit, referring to the alleged use of the South Indian actor's name in the mass plea. Earlier on Tuesday, Prakash Raj had claimed that he has not signed any mass petition to the Kerala government with regard to this.

As an afternote, Pandit said that those who wrote the letter against Mohanlal was worthless and did not even deserve to be the sand on the screen icon’s footwear. “Those who signed on the giant petition did not realise that they have done it against the giant himself.
