Veteran playback singer S P Balasubramaniam disallowed people from touching his feet to show respect. At the Mazhavil Mango Music Awards, the celebrated singer firmly said 'No, please, no,' as prominent singer K S Chitra and music director Stephen Devassy tried to do so.

Devassy, who arrived on the stage with SPB, tried to touch his feet immediately in deep respect, but as he bent, the South Indian singer prevented him affectionately, and hugged him. “Stephen has gained global reputation as a music director,” said SPB. “I wish him a bright future.”

Chitra soon entered the stage to sing with the legendary singer and tried to touch his feet as a gesture of respect. “Please, please do not do it,” SPB said. “Kerala is blessed to have singers like Chitra. I always respect such simple people.” He and Chitra then enthralled the audience with the mesmerising hit song of all times 'Thadapadham chethoharam.'

Mazhavil Mango Music Awards lined up several prominent artistes from south Indian cinema. Mohanlal provided much delight with the song 'Kasthuri mankkunnallo kaatte' while Manju Warrier drew applause for 'Pamaram palunku kondu,' both eternities from the 1970s.
