Kochunni is still wanted in Kerala!

Kayamkulam Kochunni is part of Kerala folklore and the bandit is very familiar to all Malayalis. In fact, he was known as the 19th-century Robin Hood of Kerala. A skilled martial arts expert, Kochunni was known as one who robbed the rich to help the poor. He was the most wanted criminal of that time until he died in 1859 in a jail where he was being held.

A movie based on the famed robber's life was released in Malayalam in 1966 with veteran actor Satyan in the lead. And now, another movie based on the robber is slated to hit the screen by next month. Starring Nivin Pauly in the lead, the movie directed by Rosshan Andrrews, 'Kayamkulam Kochunni' was initially scheduled to be released during this Onam season but with the calamity that struck Kerala in August, the film's show got postponed to October.

The movie is now gearing up for release with all customary promotions. The makers have come out with unique promotions in the extra time they obtained unexpectedly. Travel to any railway station in Kerala and one will get to see Pauly as Kayamkulam Kochunni on a hoarding captioned 'Wanted'. Well, it seems like Kochunni is still the most wanted criminal!

Pauly's 'Kayamkulam Kochunni' is touted as the biggest-ever project in the history of Malayalam cinema and audiences are eager to watch it on the big screen. Mohanlal, Babu Antony, Sunny Wayne and Priya Anand play pivotal roles in the movie.
