Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty has added yet another feather in his cap. He has been elected board member of Motion Pictures Sound Editors Guild of America (MPSE).

With this, Pookutty will be rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Paulette Victor-Lifton, Jamey Scott, Daniel Blanck, David Barber, Peery La Marca and Bill Dannevik.

Announcing this on his Twitter page, Pookutty said this has been a first of its kind for an Asian soundman to get this honour. “I feel, me and fraternity is recognized through this selection to the highest body of sound designers in the world,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pookutty's film 'The Sound Story', which captured the sounds of Thrissur Pooram, has made it to the films short-listed for the 91st Oscar Award and is competing in the best category film.

The Oscar nomination will be out on January 22.
