Shrikumar Menon to drop surname as Anil Radhakrishnan Menon slights Bineesh Bastin

Shrikumar (L), Bineesh Bastin (C) and Anil Radhakrishnan Menon (R)

After the video of director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon allegedly refusing to share the stage with actor Bineesh Bastin took the social media by a storm, director Shrikumar Menon has taken a stand.

Shrikumar has decided to drop the caste tag 'Menon' from his name and wants to be addressed as VA Shrikumar.

The Odiyan director himself shared this on his Facebook page and wrote, “I stand for certain values in my life and in the wake of many incidents I realize that my surname has been misleading. And thus, I have decided to drop it.”

He also mentioned that the incident involving actor Bineesh Bastin and Anil Radhakrishnan Menon haunted him and that's why he took such a step.

Clarifying his stand, Anil Radhakrishnan Menon had earlier said that he has never felt privileged or of a higher caste, simply because he is Menon. He had also apologized to the actor for making him feel bad. Anil Radhakrishnan Menon also denied allegations that he referred Bineesh as a 'third-grade actor'.

Meanwhile, police is all set to summon Shrikumar for questioning with regard to a complaint filed by actress Manju Warrier. Police have reportedly filed charges against him on the grounds of outraging the modesty of a woman through cyberspace.
