Screenwriter S N Swamy, known for creating popular characters in Mollywood, including Sethurama Iyer from the CBI franchise and Sagar Alias Jacky from 'Irupatham Noottandu', is excited to don the hat of a director.

When asked why he made this decision so late in his career, at the age of 72, Swamy quips: “I had a peculiar subject in my hand. As I felt that no other director could envision it the way I have conceived it, I decided to helm the movie myself.”

However, the veteran screenwriter is tight-lipped about the subject. “It is definitely an interesting film. The pooja of the film will take off very soon. It will be held at the Ernakulam Town Hall on Vishu. I will be divulging all the details then,” he says.

It should be noted that S N Swamy had plans to venture into films almost a decade ago, with rumours at the time suggesting that he would be helming a romantic drama. Dhyan Sreenivasan is expected to play the lead role in the film.

The fifth instalment of the CBI franchise, 'CBI 5: The Brain', hit theatres on May 1, 2022. Mammootty reprised his role as the famous investigation officer Sethurama Iyer. 'The Brain' revolved around basket killings and received mixed responses from the audience.

Swamy's career in the film industry began with his script for the 1980 movie 'Chakkarayumma'. Over time, he developed close partnerships with acclaimed directors such as K Madhu and Joshiy.
