As the aspiring singer Yadu S Marar was leaving the stage of the music reality show Super 4 on Mazhavil Manorama, music director Shaan Rahman, gave him a word. He promised to offer him a chance to sing in his upcoming project. And he kept the word. The song from the Fahadh Faasil movie ‘Njan Prakasan’ is being celebrated by the youth these days. The song is 'Omal thamara kannalle...' and the owner of the voice is now everyone’s favourite.
Yadu sits in his home ‘Panchari’ at Cherpu in Thrissur district without any hangover of his successful debut.
Yadu is from the village, Peruvanathu which is famous for temple performing arts, hence he is not a new face for so many people in Kerala. He still goes for percussion in temples with his father, Sathish Marar. He says nothing much have changed after the success of the song except the more selfies for which he poses. He says everything is like a dream for him. Over to his words:
Making the cut
Music director Shaan Rahman had given me a hint about his new movie 'Njan Prakasan', but he wasn’t sure whether I would sing in it. He said if the director Sathyan Anthikad and others like my song it could be included in the movie. The song was recorded at a studio in Ernakulam. It was not a part of the initial discussions. In fact this was made for me and I consider it as a blessing of all my mentors, the budding singer said.
The track sung by Yadu was sent to Sathyan. After hearing, he zeroed in on Yadu and assured he will sing the song in the movie. Yadu said he couldn’t be happier than that. “I sang playback for the first time and it feels happy that the director liked it. The verdict of the director was that the song sung by me was a significant one,” he revealed.
"And to debut in a movie directed by Sathyan Anthikad starring Fahadh Faasil is such a fortune. I express my thanks to Shaan Rahman and to all people who accepted the song with all their hearts," he added.
Perfect rendition
"I am getting good responses from the judges of Super 4. They said that the song was rendered exactly the way the movie demanded. And the change of tone was also appreciable. The responses from the people are also positive. The movie was a much-awaited one as it is by the celebrated duo Sathyan Anthikadu and Sreenivasan. To sing in such a movie was an added advantage for me," he said.
Fahadh impressed
The most memorable comment about the song was that of Fahad. When the song was played at the location for the shoot, Fahadh got excited about it and asked about the singer. Later, he called up Shaan and gave his compliments and regards for the singer. And Shaan passed it on to Yadu.
Early initiation
"I was trained in classical music from childhood. Sreeja teacher was my first guru. I did my post-graduation in music from the School of Drama in Thrissur. Now I am doing my higher studies in Music under the guidance of Maangad Nadesan and M S Parameswaran. I sing in the temples and I don’t know when did the desire to sing in the movies crept in me. But I did not expect this to happen so soon. But the art inherent in me is definitely the percussion. The strains from instruments like Chenda, Thayambaka, Thimila and Panchavadyam are infused in my blood. My family is connected with the temple performing arts. I go with my father to perform," he stated.
