At 31, singer Selena Gomez hints at retirement from music

Singer Selena Gomez who is expected to release her next album soon, has hinted she might retire from music. The multi-talented artist revealed that 'she was tired' and she had probably just 'one more album in her', following which she would focus more on acting.

The two-time Grammy award winner, during a podcast, said music was a hobby that 'turned into something else'. She added that she always loved to tell stories and did not believe that she was the best singer in the world.

“I wanted to be an actress. I really never intended on becoming a full-time singer, but that hobby turned into something else,” said the singer. She added that she started having a lot of fun with music, including the constant tours across the globe. However, she also struggled with mental issues after she chose music as a career," she said.

The singer made her debut as a child actor in the TV series 'Barney and Friends'. She later appeared in several TV shows. Her first tryst as a musician was when she launched the pop band 'Selena Gomez and The Scene'. Their first album 'Kiss and Tell' debuted at No. 9 on the US Billboard. The band later went on to win several awards for their albums. In 2012, the singer announced that the band would split so that she could focus on her acting career.

The singer's most recent solo album 'Single Soon', which released in 2023 celebrates 'singlehood'. The singer-actor is the most followed celebrity on Instagram and currently boasts of 429 million followers. She has often taken a break from social media to focus on her mental health.
