Singer Hariharan, synonymous with musical excellence, emerged as a prodigy immersed in the rich tradition of Indian music. Having grown up with the soulful strains of ragas and the melodies of iconic musicians like Ustad Amir Khan, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, and Pandit Ravi Shankar, as well as the brilliance of Carnatic maestros, it is no surprise that Hariharan's destiny was woven into the world of music.
Marking fifty years in his ghazal journey, a special event titled 'Be-Misaal' has been organized by his family friend, K P Ranjith, and others to commemorate this significant milestone. The program, scheduled in Kozhikode on January 25 at the Calicut Trade Centre at 6:30 PM, promises an evening of musical brilliance and celebration. Subsequent events will be held in Kochi, Bengaluru, Dubai, Bahrain, and Qatar, featuring Hariharan and several distinguished singers.
Commencing his illustrious career in 1977, Hariharan has engraved his voice on the hearts of music lovers through over 15,000 songs across 10 different languages. Hariharan's impressive journey has gained him massive admiration, a large fan following, and prestigious awards, including two National Awards and the Padma Shri in 2004.
His musical repertoire spans across Bollywood, where he collaborated with the industry's best musicians and singers. From compositions like 'Hai Rama' (Rangeela) and 'Jhonka Hawa Ka' (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam) to soul-stirring renditions such as 'Kitni Baatein' (Lakshya) and 'Tu Hi Re' (Bombay), his contributions have left an indelible mark. Moreover, his collaborations with Academy Award-winning maestro AR Rahman, notably the Tamil favourite 'Uyire Uyire', earned him the State Government film award.
