Gone are the days when servers in crisp whites waited the tables in restaurants, with peasant smiles, and impeccable manners. Smart robots have now replaced waiters at many restaurants and eateries around the globe.
Robot waiters are very common in restaurants in many western countries and also in Japan, China, and Bangladesh. In 2017, a group of youngsters opened a 'Robot Theme Restaurant' in Semmancherri in Chennai where robots are 'appointed' as waiters. The customers would place their orders on the tabs placed at each table. The chefs prepare the dishes and hand it over to the robot waiters who serve the food at the respective tables.
Following the incredible success of this restaurant in Chennai, these youngsters have opened another 'robot' restaurant at Coimbatore. The robots can easily understand English and Tamil. The robots waiters have impeccable accuracy and their efficiency saves time as well. Earlier, a few restaurants in Gujarat and Suraj tried conveyor belts and toy trains to supply food to the customers at their tables.
Anyway, food lovers throng these places not only out of curiosity to see the robot waiters but also to relish the delicious food served by them. The menu is an elaborate list of Chinese and Thai dishes that are available at reasonable pricing. They also have brownie and ice-cream options for dessert.
