A well-made dish could be completely ruined if it is too salty. Adding too much salt in food could not just ruin its flavour but isn’t good for health either. Here are some amazing and easy ways to remove excess salt from food. However, a drawback of these tips is that these are effective only in curries with gravies. They do not work the same when it comes to salty stir fries, snacks or salads.

Raw potatoes

Add raw potato cubes in salty gravies. Leave them in the dish for at least 20 minutes. The potatoes would absorb the excess salt. Do not forget to taste the dish once again before serving.

Rice balls

Make small rice powder balls and drop them in the curries. These balls can instantly absorb excess salt.

Fresh cream

Fresh cream can neutralise the saltiness in dishes. This would reduce the saltiness by adding a thick texture.

Curd

Add a teaspoon of curd and cook for a while to remove excess salt.

Milk

Adding 2 teaspoons milk could not just reduce the excess salt but can improve the flavour of the dish.

Onion

Add a few pieces of onions in the dish. You could add raw onions or fried ones. After five minutes take out the onions.

Vinegar and sugar

Add 1 table spoon each of vinegar and sugar. The sourness of the vinegar and the sweetness of the sugar would balance the flavours.
