'Aayiram kozhikku ara kaada' is a saying that's popular in Kerala kitchens. It means half a quail meat is as nutritious as a thousand chicken meat. For this weekend, how about preparing a toddy shop-style quail fry to go with rice or breads? Here's the recipe:

Ingredients
2 quail
Salt to taste
10 gms ginger garlic paste
15 gms Kashmiri chilli powder
3 gms turmeric powder
5 gms garam masala powder
15 gms flour
30 gms crushed shallots and garlic
5 gms fennel powder
Coconut oil for frying

Preparation
Marinate the quail with all the ingredients and keep it to rest for a minimum of 2 hours
Deep fry in coconut oil for 8 to 10 minutes on slow to medium heat
Garnish with green chili, curry leaves and lemon wedge
