The place where we reside must be filled with happiness and peace. Even though there are no problems according to Vaastu, when troubled with difficulties, health problems and discord at home, most people tend to attribute it to their ‘bad times’. Perhaps, many of those problems could be because of the minor things that are overlooked by us.

Ensure these aspects at your home and you can see the change for yourself; an increase in peace and prosperity.

» The South West corner (Kanni Moola) of the plot where the house is situated must be on a little raised level and the North East corner must be the lowest. If it is not so, it can be corrected by filling the plot with soil.

» The well or the water tank must be in the North East position. Water sources must not come in the East-South corner called Agnikon (the fire element’s position).

» Dogs and such pets must not be tied up near the main door of the house.

» A mirror should not be positioned as if one looks at it right upon opening the door. In many places, people arrange their almirah with a mirror at this position so as to see it upon opening the door. This must be avoided.

» Problems may occur even when the locks and key or latches do not function properly. The creaking noise on opening the doors must be fixed by lubricating the hinges with some oil.

» Old spectacles, watches and clothes which are not used anymore must be cleared from the house. Broken mirrors and such things must never be stored at home.

» Ballpoint pens that have run out of ink in their refills must also be disposed of.

» Electrical appliances and such things which are not operational must not be kept in the house. All such equipment that has conked off will generate negative energy. Hence, never hesitate to clear them off at the right time.

» Water should not keep dripping from the taps. As it is believed that it could cause a financial crisis, the leaky taps must be replaced with new ones or repaired.

» Why do you hesitate to change the bulb that is not working when switched on?

» Don’t leave clothes and other household articles strewn around. Declutter, organise and keep it in designated places. These may seem trivial, but the influence it has is tremendous.

» You may hesitate to get rid of old clothes in the almirah. Have you kept things that you have not used in a year or more? It may include clothes things that are very expensive or those with which you have a sentimental attachment. Such clothes can be occasionally dried in the sun, aired, folded up and stored. But, it is better to get rid of things that you will not use at all.

» Give utmost importance to dawn and dusk times (prabhatham, pradhosham). Avoid sweeping and washing clothes during those times. Make use of this time to pray by lighting a Nilavilakku (a traditional bronze lamp) with 5 wicks.

Goddess Lakshmi’s blessings and prosperity will be there in the homes that are organised and decluttered. Practice neatness and tidiness in life and at home. Of the above-mentioned points, a few would be affecting your home too. Fix those problems and experience the change.
