New York: Indian celebs undoubtedly caught the eyes of the world by attending the 2023 Met Gala in stunning outfits ensembled with statement accessories and jewelleries.
Dressed in an ivory ball gown embellished with 100,000 hand-beaded pearls in India, Alia Bhatt made an impressive debut at the event. She wore an atelier Prabal Gurung ivory silk tulle and satin face organza exaggerated basque waist ball gown with hand-beaded pearls.
The 30-year-old, who is set to make her Hollywood debut with the action movie "Heart of Stone", said she has always been fascinated with the iconic Chanel brides, dressed by Lagerfeld, and her look was inspired by them.
"My look tonight was inspired by this and, in particular, by supermodel Claudia Schiffer's 1992 Chanel bridal look," Alia added. The 'RRR' actor completed her look with a bow of pearls on her hair and ring stack, as well as a knuckle duster. Fashion stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania was behind Alia's look for the event.
Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani's daughter Isha Ambani also shone in a black silk saree gown, adding an embellished diamond choker, earrings, rings, and a Chanel doll bag to her look. Prabal Gurung has designed this outfit.
Priyanka Chopra went all classy with her thigh-high slit black Maison Valentino gown and white gloves. The Citadel star also adorned a bespoke Bulgari piece in Laguna blu diamond. She was accompanied by her husband, Nick Jonas, wearing a black leather suit jacket, layered over a crisp white shirt and a studded black tie by Valentino. This was the couple's first appearance at the Met Gala after welcoming their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas in 2022.
In an Instagram post, Sarah Tanno, who did Priyanka's makeup for the event, wrote, "Priyanka is incredibly glamorous; we wanted to lean into that with a classic and modern glam with gorgeous skin, fluffy lashes, a rose-toned lip and cheeks, and a classic winged liner."
Meanwhile, Natasha Poonawalla, a renowned businesswoman and Executive Director of the Serum Institute of India, stunned the visitors with a Schiaparelli-sculpted mirror dress and sharp shoulder spikes.
The gala, which is being held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, pays tribute to the legendary German designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019 at 85. This year's theme for the event is "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty".
The Met Gala 2023 was attended by some of the biggest international stars, including Rihanna, Doja Cat, Serena Williams, this year's best actress Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Pedro Pascal, Salma Hayek, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and Penelope Cruz, among others.
