Luxury mansion in Malappuram
The spaces designed in open style make house look vast and luxuriant.

Ramil and Seena, natives of Thirurangadi in Malappuram, Kerala had dreamed of a modest two storied house, yet with all necessary facilities, which fit their budget. This elegantly designed house has done justice to the needs and preferences of the family in the most amazing way. The elevation is designed in flat roof to ensure maximum availability of space. The beautiful combination of white and blue hues make the exteriors look chic and classy. The 1800 sq ft house which stands on an 8-cent plot has living and dining areas, kitchen and four bedrooms in it.

The spaces are designed in the open style which makes it look vast and spacious. The living and the dining areas are arranged as part of the main hall. This ensures abundant supply of natural light and air in the interiors.

The charming interiors exude elegance, making visitors often wonder whether this house has really been made on a reasonable budget. The colorful interiors make the house look pleasant and welcoming. Ramil and Seena admit that they have a special affinity to the green color. So the shades of green can easily be spotted inside the house. The green hue adds a special charm to the living area and the master bedroom. Only the exterior walls are painted with putty finish. Rest of the walls in the house is painted with distemper paint which can be used without applying a coat of primer.

The furniture is made with the leftover timber, with minor faults, that are available from the mills. Irul wood has been mostly used to make the furniture. Granite is paved on the floor in the lower storey while vitrified tiles are used on the upper floor. The hand railings of the stairway are done with stainless steel. The wash area is arranged beneath the stairway by wisely utilizing the spaces. Two bedrooms each are arranged on both the floors. Only the master bedroom is bath attached. Common bathrooms are arranged on both the floors.

The kitchen is designed in the red color theme. There is a small breakfast counter as well in the kitchen. Thee cupboards in the kitchen are made with aluminum composite panels which are reasonably priced, durable and easy to install.

The construction of the house, including the structure and furnishing, was completed on a moderate budget of Rs 22 lakh. An additional amount of Rs 2 lakhs were spent to build the boundary wall, car porch and to beautify the front courtyard by paving interlocking bricks. This amazing dwelling is a fine example of a well planned, cost effective house which can be built without actually compromising on the modern facilities.

These are the factors which kept the expenses at bay:

» Meticulous planning of space utilization

» The positions of the electrical points were planned in advance.

» Light points were directly installed with adding false ceiling.

» Painting is done without applying the putty.

» The cupboards and wardrobes are made with ACP panels.

» Old wood was reused.
