A Kozhikode mansion that dwells in the art of architecture

Kozhikode mansion
Luxury, art and elegance makes this 5000 sq ft,house in Kozhikode a dream dwelling

Bineesh Arur, a native of Arur in Kozhikode, Kerala is excited to talk about his brand new house which amazingly blends the charm of traditional style with modern luxuries. He admits that he drew inspiration for his dream dwelling from a house which was featured in Manorama Online. Bineesh contacted architect Rafeeq who had designed that house. The family wanted a luxury house which emanates the elegance of traditional architectural style, that too, with all the modern facilities.

The house stands regally in a sprawling one acre of land. The majestic beauty of the structure is amazingly projected as it is built by leaving lots of space in the front. The exteriors of the house are so enchantingly beautiful that it instantly draws attention. Unique roofing tiles, imported from Indonesia, are paved on the slanting roof. The adjacent car porch looks like a miniature of the elegant main structure. A corridor connects the car porch to the house.

The incredibly beautiful landscape perfectly complements the luxurious look of the exteriors. Natural stones are paved on the driveway. Lush green meadows and charming gardens complete the landscape. The water body in front of the entrance and the bridge across it add a dramatic touch to the whole area.

This spacious house, in 5000 sq ft, has a car porch, an elaborate sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, courtyard, five bedrooms and a kitchen.

The name board on which ‘Niranjanam’ is etched in wood, with an intricate peacock design is truly eye-catching. This name board which is an amazing work of art in wood was custom-made by the carpenters who did all the other wood works in the house. The sit-out is long and spacious, and the pillars done in wood and brass and painted in white hue are the highlights here. A hanging cot has been arranged here to enjoy the beautiful landscape outside.

The interiors are designed in the semi-open style. The interconnected spaces make the interiors look vast and spacious. The family living area is designed in double height. Wooden paneling is done on the wall where the TV unit is arranged. Windows lining the walls upstairs welcomes pleasant sunshine in abundance. This makes the interiors look more spacious and facilitates amazing ventilation as well.

The majestic grandeur of wood works fills the interiors. The furniture, handrails of the stairway and paneling are done using exquisite timber. Plywood and veneer are used in prominent parts of the house. The regal Italian marble can be seen laid on the lower floor. Meanwhile, wooden flooring and vitrified tiles are used on the upper storey. Beautiful claddings adorn the wall beside the stairway. This designer feature extends to the upper storey as well.

The courtyard is the most stunning feature in the interiors. The luster of the laterite stones make the walls shine. The natural light coming in through the skylight illuminates the interiors. Shiny pebbles are paved on the floor here and the courtyard is decorated with indoor plants. A hanging cot is also arranged here. This scintillating courtyard plays a vital role in filling the interiors with positive energy.

The spiral stairway which elicits the elegance of wood is another striking feature. The steps and the hand railings are covered with teak wood. The stairway leads to a long and spacious hall upstairs. A living area, with a TV unit, is arranged here. The false ceiling, designed according to the slant roof, acts as a designer feature.

All the bedrooms are spacious. Unique designs on the headboards are the highlighting features in the rooms. The mesmerizingly beautiful head board, in the master bedroom, spreads to the ceiling as well. A masterful blend of rexine, black acrylic and plywood could be seen on this head board. Storage has been given prime importance in all the bedrooms and full length wardrobes are arranged for this. Unique false ceiling add to the elegant look of each bedroom.

The classic European kitchen is elegant, spacious and has all the modern facilities. The cupboards are done in wood and laminate finish. Korean stone is paved on the counter top. The center table can be used as a quaint breakfast table as well.

Bineesh and his family are thrilled and elated that architect Rafeeq has amazingly designed their dream abode. The house warming ceremony of this enchanting house was celebrated just a few months ago. Bineesh proudly says that the guests are mesmerized by the unique features and exquisite design of the house. “Everyone wants to know more about our dream home. Some want the plan of the house, while others are curious about the building materials and the budget. Our happiness grows when we explain about it,” says Bineesh with a smile.
