'One could say that I built the house using my throat,' Tiny Tom says about his house which he built during the days he used to perform on stage as a professional mimicry artist.

Actor Tiny Tom, who had earned praise for his incredible mimicry performances, has carved a niche for himself in the Malayalam film industry as well. The actor’s dream home, ‘Eden’, is close to the Aluva town, yet away from the bustle of the city. The house stands regally on an 8 cents plot, surrounded by trees and beautiful flowering gardens. The floods in August last year had taken a major toll on this house, submerging half of it. After the flood waters receded, the family had to wait for months, get the walls to dry up. Repainting and renovation of the house were done after that. However, now, Eden hardly looks like a house that was once ravaged by the floods, barely a year ago.

Like most of the silver screen stars, Tiny Tom, a master of deadpan humour and witty comments, enjoys a special affinity with cars. The stylish cars parked in his spacious car porch vouches for his taste in automobiles. Passion fruits and beautiful flowering creepers add to the greenery on the premises.

The house has two entrances, one leading to the main hall and the other to Tiny’s office room. It is the elegant prayer space, arranged beside the main hall, which draws everyone's attention. The lighted candles and the idols add charm and tranquility to the entire area. Framed photographs of Tiny’s ancestors don the adjacent wall plunged in yellow texture. The main hall has a scintillating charm which relaxes the minds of guests who visit the family.

Several photographs in which Tiny is seen posing with big names in the industry, like superstar Mammootty, film maker Ranjith and so on, decorate the office space.

The unique mirror on the wall, in the formal living area, is truly stunning. This makes the area look vast and incredibly spacious. The TV unit has been arranged on the wall highlighted with yellow textured paint. A swinging cot acts as a partition between the living and the dining areas. A comfortable dining table is arranged in the dining space. The area beneath the stairway has been converted into a storage space. The beautiful chandelier hanging from the roof, above the stairway, is an eye-catching feature.

The idol of Jesus Christ and a rosary, crafted in teak wood, were purchased from Indonesia. A charming painting, beside it, instantly catches the attention. However, one would realize that it is a sliding shelf only when it is observed from a closer angle. A unique painting, brought from Australia, adorns the master bedroom in this house. The painting, titled ‘flowing honey’ is done by aborigines of Australia using natural fibers.

A bedroom in the upper storey has been converted into a home-theater, enhanced with the Dolby sound system. Tiny says the home-theater is his son Adam’s favorite corner, where the latter has decorated with the images of his favorite super heroes.

Tiny’s wife Roopa is an excellent cook and enjoys cooking special dishes for her family. So, the spacious kitchen is arranged with all the modern facilities.

“I was active in mimicry programs from the school time itself. I became part of troupes after completing college. That’s what led me into the movies. I purchased the plot and built this house, around twelve years ago, using the money that I saved from mimicry performance on various stages. So, you could say that I built this house using my throat,” laughs Tiny.

Tiny’s wife Roopa is a homemaker and son Adam is a class ten student. “Ours was a love marriage. During those days, fashion shows too were part of stage programs. Roopa used to take part in such shows. That is how we met and got married. Though I own two more houses, I am emotionally attached to this one because it is built using my sweat, during the days when I struggled to make a mark in the movies,” reveals Tiny.

Eden becomes a charming ‘garden’ of mirth and laughter when Tiny Tom is home during breaks between his busy schedules. Then, the family has a gala time enjoying the peaceful moments which are unique and special.
