Nidheesh built his dream dwelling in a 9 cents plot, close to his ancestral house, in Chakarakallu, Kannur, Kerala. This fusion house has already become the talk of the town for its incredible exteriors and charming interiors that have all the modern facilities. It is the box shaped features arranged in perfect geometric proportions in the exteriors that instantly draw attention. Box elevations and a canopy made with natural stones, claddings, glass and GI pipes are the main features of the elevation. The doors and windows in the exterior don the serene white colour with PU matte finish. This lends the house a mesmerizing elegance that is unique to colonial structures. Tandoor stones are paved on the front yard and the verdant meadows add a contrasting hint of green.

The entrance door is designed as a door cum window. This enchanting house, designed in 2400 sq ft area, has a sit out, formal living area, dining space, kitchen and four bedrooms. Vitrified tiles and granites in leather finish are used for flooring in the common areas. Meanwhile, wooden tiles are paved in the corridor that leads to the dining area. The formal living is designed in double height which makes the interiors look vaster. Gypsum false ceiling in minimal style adorn the rooms in this house.

Nidhin, who works as a sound engineer abroad has personally overseen the installation of the entertainment gadgets and settings in the formal living area. It was his idea to conceal the sound system.

The elegant and elaborate stairway is the highlight of the interiors. Wooden planks are panelled on steel frames to build the steps. Rope has been braided in a decorative pattern on metal strings, for the hand railings.

The bedrooms have been designed giving priority to space management and facilities. PVC design boards used on the head board and the wardrobes make the master bedroom stand out.

The dining area is just beside the stair area. The old dining table that the family used in the ancestral house is reused here as well. A crockery shelf in plywood – veneer finish completes the dining area.

The ‘U’ shaped kitchen has all the modern facilities and dons the classic blend of grey – white combination. The cabinets here are done in multi wood – laminate finish. Wall tiles are pasted on the back splash.
