Sloped roof and contemporary features make the elevation look extremely stylish.

Basheer, an expatriate, has built his brand new house at his home town in Mavoor in Kozhikode, Kerala. The construction of this house was stalled many times before Basheer entrusted a new designer to resume the work. The family has a taste for artistic timber works and it has been lavishly used to decorate the interiors. The spaces are designed in a way which makes maintenance easier as the family stays here only when they are in Kerala for the holidays.

Sloped roof and contemporary features make the elevation look extremely stylish. The exterior walls are decorated by installing groves on plain designs. Grey cladding tiles are used to highlight the upper wall and the one on the side of the house. The balcony, in the center, stands out for the glass roofing.

This scintillating abode, designed in 3100 sq ft area, has a car porch, sit out, living area, dining space, kitchen, prayer room, five bedrooms, upper living area and a balcony.

The grand elegance of wood works begins from the sit-out onwards. The pillars in the sit-out are covered in veneer wood finish. The entrance door opens to the living area. The formal living area, meanwhile, is arranged slightly below the floor level. The wall here is highlighted using veneer panelling and the TV unit is installed here.

Wooden panelling adorns most spaces in the interiors of this house. The partitions are designed in the ‘X’ shape. The elegant charm of wood could be seen on these features as well. White coloured marble are mostly paved on the floor in the common areas. Meanwhile, the floor in the living and the dining areas are highlighted using wooden tiles.

A small sitting space is arranged below the stairway. Terracotta tiles are paved here on the floor. The indoor plants add a hint of greenery to the interiors. The custom-made dining table and chairs, that perfectly suit the general theme of the house, can accommodate up to six guests. The prayer area is just beside the dining area. The wooden panelling here is an eye-catching feature.

The concealed lights around the mirror make the wash area look chic and interesting. The wall here is highlighted by installing groves on black natural stone.

The hand railings of the stairway feature the classic combination of wood and toughened glass. There is a living area, two bedrooms and a balcony in the upper storey. The kitchen cupboards are done in multi wood and PVC board with laminate finish. The pantry kitchen meanwhile is in the open style. An adjacent working kitchen completes the kitchen area.

The bath-attached bedrooms have in – built wardrobes for storage and separate dressing spaces as well. The gypsum false ceiling and LED light fittings add oodles of charm to the bedrooms.

The front yard is paved with natural stones. The elegance of wooden highlighter elements could be seen on the main gate and the wicket gate as well. The claddings on it are similar to the designs on the house. The excellent cross ventilation helps maintain a pleasant atmosphere inside the house. The family now eagerly awaits the holidays so that they can fly down to Kerala to spend some amazing time in their dream dwelling.
