A comfortable house, built on a minimal budget, is probably one of the most special dreams nurtured by every person. Meanwhile, noted designer KV Muraleedharan is winning applauds for his genuine efforts in building a low budget home and gifting it to a deserving family.

Muraleedharan was upset seeing the poor living conditions of young singer Syamlal and his family who had lived closer to the former’s office at Chelari in Malappuram. He says that lots of good hearted people had helped him in this impeccable endeavor.

Designed in 561 sqft, this quaint house has a sit out, living cum dining hall, kitchen, two bedrooms and a common bathroom. Interestingly, this house is built on a 5 cents plot within a very low budget of just Rs 10 lakh. It was veteran singer KS Chithra who had handed over the key of this house to the family. This beautiful house has all the amenities required for Syamlal’s small family consisting of his mother and sister.

The structure is built using interlocking bricks. The greatest advantage of such houses is that less amount of sand and cement are required for the construction. This helps in significantly reducing the expenses. Concrete tiles are paved on the GI truss roof. Meanwhile, the gypsum false ceiling and the charming light fittings lends a pleasant ambience to the spaces.

Instead of the regular cement plastering, the interior walls has gypsum plastering. Besides, reducing the expenses, this helps in maintaining a cooler atmosphere inside the house. Only the outer walls have been given coats of putty and paint.

The head side walls in the bedrooms are highlighted with darker shades of hues. The kitchen, meanwhile, is furnished by doing aluminum fabrication. Hylam sheets are used for the cabinets here.

Those who had worked hard to make this house a reality is extremely elated that they could gift a secured house for a poor family. Models like this would be helpful to lots of people who wish to build comfortable houses without getting bogged down in huge financial burden.

Among the factors that helped in keeping a check on the expenses, using interlock bricks to build the structure played a vital role. The truss roof and the gypsum plastered interior walls too have helped. Moreover, the use of timber in furnishing is limited. The doors and the windows are done in metal with aluminum finish.
