The height of the foundation and the truss roof make this single storey house look tall and majestic.

Vishwanathan, an expatriate, is proud to show around his brand new single storey house at Valappad in Thrissur district, Kerala. The elegant house that has three bedrooms looks and feels quite special. The family didn’t want the interiors to have hot and unpleasant atmosphere; instead they wanted to have abundant supply of natural light and air inside the house. Architects Anoop and Manisha deserve credit for designing such a fabulous abode by catering to the likes and interests of the family.

The height of the foundation and the truss roof make this single storey house look tall and majestic. A fine blend of slope and flat roof add to the chic look of the exteriors. Shingles have been paved on the slope roof. Meanwhile, the exterior wall has been highlighted with laterite texture and grey coloured tiles. All these features give a traditional charm to the structure.

The front yard is paved with Kadappa stones and lots of trees and plants adorn the beautiful garden here. The car porch is done in GI structure. The corrugated sheet on the roof with PVC ceiling and ACP on the sides grants a stylish look to the porch.

The house, designed in 2200 sq ft, stands in a vast 30 cents plot. There is a sit out, living and dining areas, kitchen, courtyard, family living area and three bedrooms in this splendid house. Granites are paved on the steps that lead to the sit out. Meanwhile, vitrified tiles have been used for flooring in the rest of the house. The windows and doors are made using sturdy pincoda wood. An in – built sitting space has been arranged in a corner of the sit out. Interestingly, this is the modified version of the traditional chaarupadi or back rest.

The formal living area is designed in double height. An elegant couch enhanced with fabric upholstery is what adorns this area. The courtyard, meanwhile, is closer to the living area. A multi-wood partition wall decorated with amazing CNC cutting separates the formal living area and the courtyard. The courtyard floor is paved with synthetic grass to add a pop of green hue. Meanwhile, the plants in the planter boxes give a pleasant ambience to the area. Interestingly, one has to cross the courtyard to reach the wash area. The open ceiling in the courtyard is secured with grilles. Only this area and not the slab need to be dismantled if the family decides to build an additional floor in the future.

The family living area and the dining space are designed as a single unit. The TV unit is arranged in the family living area. The dining table features an elegant combination of wood and glass. The classy custom-made furniture perfectly suits the general theme of the house. The beautiful hanging lights are the highlight of the common areas. The gypsum false ceiling too plays a pivotal role in making the interiors look absolutely stunning.

The bedrooms are bath attached and have separate dressing tables. Unique false ceiling patterns and coloured single walls are the highlights of the beautiful bedrooms. Lots of natural light and breeze enter the bedrooms through the well placed windows.

The L-shaped kitchen has lots of multi wood cabinets. Meanwhile, the counter top has been paved with granite. The tile cladding on the backsplash is an interesting feature in this extremely functional kitchen.

Spectacular designs, smart features and modern amenities make this house an enchanting experience.
