Liju, an expatriate, had decided to build his dream dwelling at his hometown in Kalanjoor near Kalady in Kerala. The family wanted a minimal house which received natural light and air abundantly and had all the modern amenities as well. Noted architect Shinto designed this beautiful house keeping in mind the demands and interests of the family members.
The pristine white theme is the highlight of this house. An elegant blend of flat and plain designs makes the elevation stand out. Meanwhile, the wooden cladding is the highlight here. Designed in 2856 sq ft, there is a sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, and courtyard, kitchen with a work area, four bedrooms, upper living area, library and a balcony in this spectacular house.
The unique design of the car porch is quite interesting. This is made by paving ACP sheet on GI tubes. The front yard, meanwhile, is paved with natural stones and grass in alternate layers.
The entrance door opens to the formal living area, which is arranged by ensuring privacy. A wall here is highlighted with texture paint. Meanwhile, the false ceiling in wooden finish too is an eye-catching feature.
The dining area, family living area and the stairway are all part of the open hall. This makes the interiors look incredibly vaster. The family living area, meanwhile, is designed in double height. The TV unit is arranged here. One can easily communicate with the upper storey from this area.
The charming courtyard in double-height is the highlight of the interiors. Grilles are installed on the sides to ensure safety. Meanwhile, toughened glass is paved on the ceiling here. Shiny pebbles are paved on the floor in the courtyard to give it a rustic charm. A quaint furniture unit too has been arranged where one can relax and enjoy the natural sunshine. Besides this, there is a smaller courtyard as well. The cool breeze from the east and the north sides enters the house through this area.
One could get to the front yard through the folding glass door in the dining area. A small sitting space is arranged here as well.
The bedrooms are simple but have all the required facilities. The bath-attached bedrooms have in – built wardrobes for storage as well.
The kitchen cabinets are done in multi wood with laminate finish. The counter top, meanwhile, has been paved with granite. A pantry counter is what connects the kitchen with the dining area.
The family celebrated the house warming ceremony last month and moved into the safety of their brand new house. The guests too are impressed by this fabulous abode that combines classy features with smart facilities.
