Joy Elvis’ brand new house at the serene hamlet of Madikai in Kasaragod, Kerala, has already become the talk of the town. The house that features a unique elevation is the perfect low cost house that suits the pockets of the common man.

This house, that instantly grabs attention, has been named Joy House. The unique design of the roof, which appears to descend to the ground, is is the highlight of the house. Roofing tiles have been paved on this GI truss roof. Meanwhile, the structure is rectangular in shape. Only the roofs on two sides of the house are concrete plastered. The walls are built using laterite stones and is not plastered. Meanwhile, the interior walls have a rustic cement finish. This saved the additional expenses of painting them.

Interestingly, the interior of this house is designed as a spacious open hall. The living area, dining area, kitchen and the bedroom have been arranged at various spots in this hall. These areas aren’t separated using partitions. Even though all these are arranged in a single hall, the spaces aren’t congested at all. Additional walls have been built only to separate the bathroom and dressing space to ensure privacy.

Multipurpose furniture is the highlight of the interiors. The floating design of the dining table is fabulous. The table-top could be raised and fixed on ceiling while the legs could be folded. Meanwhile, the pull-out couch in the living area is a smart feature. This could be used as a cot as well.

Polycarbonate sheet has been paved on a part of the ceiling which is built as a single unit. Meanwhile, this area, where plenty of sunshine comes in through the polycarbonate sheet has been turned into a courtyard. The couch in the living area could be easily turned into a cot if a guest decides to stay over.

GI has been used for windows and doors to limit the use of timber. The kitchen is furnished using aluminium fabrication.

The most stunning aspect about this fabulous abode is that it was constructed on a meagre budget of Rs 7.5 lakhs. The concept of such a house becomes significant as the owner, who earns smaller income, could build a beautiful house with all the required facilities without pushing him into financial crisis. Joy House is an amazing example that could inspire countless Keralites who are looking for ways to own a stylish home with basic amenities on a low budget.
