The wounds of the devastating landslide that ravaged Kavalappara still remain fresh in the hearts of Keralites. More than fifty people had lost their lives, while the survivors lost their houses, cattle and everything they had owned. MA Yusuff Ali, the chairman of the Lulu Group had promised to build houses for those who had lost homes and relatives in the Kavalapara disaster.
The billionaire industrialist has kept his promise and the keys of 35 houses were handed over to the families, last week. The construction of the houses was overseen by PV Abdul Wahab MP. The parliamentarian, in a message posted on his official Facebook page, announced that the official ceremony would be held later.
In the Facebook post, PV Abdulwahab MP said that those who lost everything in the Kavalapara landslide will now move into the safety of their new houses. The keys of the 35 houses were handed over to the owners.
The houses are constructed with all the required amenities like drinking water, furniture, road and street lights. MA Yussuf Ali, chairman of the Lulu Group had graciously taken the initiative for this great endeavour, the MP wrote.
“I am happy and grateful that I could be part of such a project. The official ceremony would be held at a later date, to suit the schedule and convenience of my dear brother Yusuff Ali,” Abdul Wahab wrote in his Facebook post.
