This renovated Malappuram house has surprises galore inside

The owner of this single storey Malappuram house that is more than two decades old had decided to give it a modern makeover when time had begun taking a toll on the structure. The rooms in the old house were smaller and congested. Besides, the family wanted open spaces that received fresh air and natural light. Moreover, the interiors were hotter due to the congested and crowded spaces. The walls that separated the rooms were dismantled to make the spaces open and vast. New windows too have been added to let in light and air.

Earlier, this was a small house with just 1200 sqft and had three bedrooms. However, after the renovation, the house has an area of 2300 sqft. A car porch, sit-out, living and dining areas, kitchen, four bedrooms, upper living area and a balcony have been arranged in this house. An additional floor has been newly added to give the house a modern and chic look. The sloped concrete roof of the old structure had posed a challenge while trying to build an additional floor. Two bedrooms, upper living area and a balcony are arranged here.

The living and the dining areas and the stairway are designed as part of the spacious hall. This makes the interiors look and feel vaster. White vitrified tiles have been paved on the floor. This too helps in making the interiors brighter. The living area, meanwhile, has been separated with wooden finished tiles.

The simple and compact dining table has bench on one side. The dining area and the kitchen are designed in semi open style. A U-shaped shelf is what separates the two areas.

The stairway features the classy combination of GI, wood and glass. The wash area and the inverter space are arranged beneath the stairway to make the interiors space efficient.

A TV area has been separated in the living space. The sliding glass door here welcomes lots of natural air and sunshine into the house. Moreover, GI grille has been installed here for additional safety.

The newly built bedrooms are bath attached and have in – built wardrobes for storage. The kitchen too is spacious with lots of upper and lower cabinets for storage.

The renovation of this house, including the structure and furnishing, was a completed on an affordable budget of Rs 25 lakh. No one would believe that this is a renovated house as it features many smart designer elements and incredible amenities too.
