The contemporary box-style elevation perfectly complements the unique layout of the plot.

Businessman Lishin’s brand-new house in the countryside of Patturaikkal in Thrissur, Kerala celebrates the minimal yet elegant style of contemporary architecture. The triangular shape of the 8 cents plot and the main road in the front posed challenges while designing the house.

The wide steps of the sit-out look truly remarkable. Meanwhile, the contemporary box style elevation perfectly complements the unique layout of the plot. The elevation dons the graceful colour combination of grey and white. Interestingly, the compound wall too follows the same colour theme. The terracotta jali designs on the wall add contrast against the grey and white colours. The quaint front yard is paved with pavers and grass in alternate layers. Besides, the garden is filled with a variety of plants too.

Designed in 3252 sqft, this elegant abode has a car porch, sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with work area, four bedrooms and an upper living area.

The flooring works done in digital vitrified tiles are quite unique. It plays a vital role in granting a comfortable ambience to the interiors. Meanwhile, lapotra granite has been paved on the floor in the sit out.

The entrance door opens to a spacious formal living area where a simple couch set with yellow upholstery works has been arranged. The veneer ceiling, meanwhile, add an old-world charm to the interiors. A semi partition with jali finish is what separates the living area from the rest of the house.

The family living area, dining space and kitchen have been designed in the open theme to make the spaces look and feel vaster. Small planter boxes and semi-partitions have been used to separate these spaces and ensure privacy.

The TV unit mounted on the veneer panelled wall and the custom-made couch set are the highlights of the family living area.

The double-height ceiling of the dining hall makes this area look incredibly spacious. Huge glass windows, fixed on the walls, bring lots of fresh air and natural light into the house. A fabulous painting depicting the last supper of Jesus adorns the wall here.

The steps on the staircase are done by paving teak wood planks on I section frames. The hand railings, meanwhile, feature a splendid combination of wood and glass. The stairway leads to a spacious upper living area where a TV unit has been arranged. Interestingly, there is a connecting space here that allows a beautiful overview of the ground floor.

A quaint breakfast counter separates the kitchen and the dining area. Artificial granite has been paved on the countertop. Meanwhile, the overhead cabinets in the kitchen are done in planilaque glass finish. Besides, there is an adjacent work area furnished in aluminium fabrication. The gate and the entrance area could be viewed from the kitchen.

Two bedrooms each have been arranged in both the floors. The bedrooms feature unique themes and colour palettes. There are attached bathrooms, wardrobes and separate dressing spaces in the bedrooms. The master bedroom is in the upper floor to ensure privacy. The fabulous views of the landscape could be enjoyed from this room through a fixed glass window.

The walls of this house are lined with lots of glass windows to fill the interiors with cool breeze and golden sunshine. So, there is no need to switch on the lights during the daytime.

This mesmerizing contemporary house standing in a small plot on the roadside has been attracting the attention of the onlookers for its chic style and design.
