Reji Sebastian, his wife Reji and their only son Richu wanted a house in their hometown in Kanjirappally, that boasts beautiful exteriors and pleasant interiors with excellent air circulation and an incredible supply of natural light. Moreover, they preferred a single-storey house to make maintenance easy and hassle-free.
Reji and his family belong to the famed Kochukarimbanal family in Kanjirappally. The family used to live in their iconic ancestral home which is more than a century and a half old. When he decided to build a new house, Reji chose a plot that lies close to the main road, in their common ancestral property.
The elevation features a classy fusion of traditional and contemporary styles. Meanwhile, noted engineer Sreekant Pangapattu deserves credit for designing such a fabulous house.
Designed in 2700 sqft, this beautiful single-story house has a common area like a long veranda, formal and family living areas, dining hall, prayer area, central dry courtyard and private spaces like four spacious bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a modern kitchen with an adjacent work area, store room and a staircase.
Parking facilities have been arranged away from the structure, in the front yard. The slanting sun shades on the elevation grant a contemporary vibe while effectively preventing the heavy rains from battering the walls. Interestingly, a slanting truss roof has been installed over the flat roof. This allows the family to have a spacious utility area between the roofs.
The huge UPVC window and the roof pergola in the east side of the family living area ensure that the interiors are illuminated with natural sunshine for up to 12 hours.
The outdoor courtyard is decorated with indoor plants, making it a spectacular spot of enchanting greenery.
The family’s friends and relatives are in awe of this amazing house where the elegant features of traditional architecture merge with chic contemporary style.
