Like all expatriates, Mansoor too had unique dreams about his brand new house at Kottakal in Malappuram, Kerala. This house could be termed as an abode built via ‘WhatsApp’ as the family was abroad when the construction was done. Noted architect Juman deserves credit for designing such a beautiful and cosy house. The designer ensured that everything went as planned even though the family could reach Kerala only during the final phase of the construction. The owner mostly relied on video calls and messages to communicate with the architect and the workers.

The plot had an uneven layout; so, it was levelled before the construction began. The elevation features a contemporary fusion style. Meanwhile, the fusion of flat and slope roof looks quite elegant. Interestingly, the elevation of the house dons unique looks from different sides. The designer show walls are a highlight here. The front yard has been paved with natural stones and grass in alternate layers.

Designed in 2800 sqft, this amazing abode has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, courtyard, kitchen with a work area, two bedrooms, and a bathroom on the ground floor. Meanwhile, there are two more bedrooms and bathrooms on the upper floor.

Vitrified tiles have been paved on the floor of this house. Some of the furniture pieces are ready-made while the rest are custom-made.

The staircase built by paving wooden planks on a metal frame acts as an interesting design element. A huge glass window has been installed on the double-height wall near the staircase. This brings lots of natural light into the house, illuminating the spaces with golden sunshine. Besides, the walls are decorated with texture paint and attractive wallpapers too.

The classy bedrooms are as luxurious as a high-end resort. The bath-attached bedrooms have wardrobes for storage and separate dressing areas. A sliding glass door in the master bedroom opens to a quaint green courtyard, granting an enchanting ambience.

The kitchen cabinets are done in acrylic with a laminate finish. Meanwhile, the countertop has been paved with nano white. A small breakfast counter too has been arranged as part of the modern kitchen.

Interestingly, the construction of this house, including the structure and the furnishing, was completed on a budget of Rs 72 lakh. The family moved into their dream dwelling in the beginning of this year. They are happy that the house looks exactly like they had envisioned.
