Picture owning the home of your dreams that barely cost you Rs 10 lakhs. That too with all the possible amenities you need. We have a couple from Alappuzha who will tell you that it is indeed possible
It took a mere four months and 8 lakhs to build this house. It had a living room, dining room, kitchen, workshop, two bedrooms, and bathrooms. All came inside 450 sq ft.

The interiors aren’t what one would expect in a budget home. Since the owner works in the area of light & sound, the interiors are vibrant. The gypsum false ceiling and warm tone lights add a coziness to the interiors.

The family provided them with locally available materials. Apart from plumbing and wiring, the rest of the minor works were done by the family themselves. That also meant, labour charges were drastically cut down. Minimal use of concrete also helped in cost-cutting. They used asbestos sheets and tiles on the roof.

The furniture was mostly gifted by relatives, which also helped in cost-cutting. They had an open kitchen that led to the dining area. The cupboards were made of aluminium fabrication to reduce costs. There is also a work area nearby for the washing machine and essential utensils.
They say that it is not about building a big house, but about being resourceful with the means at one's disposal.
