Nestled within a lush 4-acre cardamom plantation, discover this exquisite residence in Kanjirappally, Kottayam. The house-owner, Thomas Justin, is a planter. The new house was constructed by replacing the old structure and it embraces contemporary architecture and also incorporates captivating elements within its interiors.

The elevation breaks away from the conventional 'box' pattern with its distinctive slanted, multi-level roofing, imparting an exquisite touch to the facade. The roofing design incorporates elements of gable roofs, cladding, and expansive windows.

From the exterior, the house presents the illusion of a single-storey structure with a double-high ceiling. In reality, it cleverly conceals three storeys through skilful architectural craftsmanship and innovative design. The varying levels of elevation on the plot were ingeniously leveraged to enhance the overall design.

The plot has ample space and the beautiful landscaping greatly enhances its overall aesthetics. The external landscape features a harmonious blend of Bangalore stone, lush green grass, and various plants. The property boasts both a grand main gate and a smaller entry gate, along with the convenience of two car porches and two sit-out areas to complete the picture.

The ground floor has a car porch; sit-out; living, dining, and work areas; and kitchen. The first floor has the upper living room, balcony, and two bedrooms. The second floor has a rooftop area. The basement is designed as a base to dry the cardamom brought from the farm. The total area of the house is 2520 sq ft. Contrasting with the exterior's aesthetics, the interior design prioritises functionality.

Upon entering through the main door, you're welcomed into a formal living area, furnished with a comfortable C-shaped cushioned sofa. Separated by a wooden TV unit, the living and dining spaces coexist harmoniously. A glass door provides an exit from the dining area. The bedrooms follow a minimalist theme, with the curtain shades carefully selected to subtly adjust the thematic atmosphere.

The kitchen is designed with a warm wooden theme, featuring cabinets finished in elegant teak wood. It also includes a black granite-topped counter and a convenient breakfast table.
While the exterior of the house exudes luxury, the interiors are tastefully understated. The architects have meticulously incorporated all the owner's specifications, resulting in a harmonious and well-balanced design.
