Tony Mathew’s brand-new tropical abode in Kothamangalam, Kerala, stands out for its multi-layered and sloped roof paved with classic clay tiles. The landscape decorated with tandoor stones and beautiful gardens perfectly complement the fabulous elevation of the house. Decorative plants like terminalia and calathea adorn the garden here, making it a haven of verdant greenery. Meanwhile, the car porch is built separately, yet really close to the structure.

The fabulous house, designed in 3450 sqft, has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen, two bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor. Meanwhile, there are two more bedrooms, bathroom and an open terrace on the upper floor.

The interiors mostly don lighter shades of hues that are soothing to the eyes. The furnishings done in the minimal theme play a pivotal role in enhancing the chic elegance of the interiors. Full length windows and the skylight bring lots of sunshine into the house, illuminating the spaces with natural light. So, there is no need to switch on the lights during the day.

The custom-made furniture pieces in the formal and family living areas gel well with the general theme of the house. Meanwhile, grey matte-finished tiles have been paved on the floor in the common areas. Wooden finish tiles are used for flooring in the bedrooms to add cosy ambience.

The central area which includes the family living area, dining space and the courtyard is the soul of the house. Interestingly, the courtyard is arranged a few feet below the floor level here. Beautiful indoor plants add a hint of greenery in the courtyard. Grills are installed for safety before adding a sliding glass door. Natural light enters the house through the skylight on the roof. The dining table and chairs crafted in teak wood are simple yet classy. Meanwhile, the compact staircase is space-efficient and elegant too.

The bedrooms have been arranged to enjoy the scintillating views of the landscape. The full-length windows let in amazing sceneries as well as cool breeze and sunshine. The bath-attached bedrooms have in-built wardrobes and separate dressing spaces too.

The compact kitchen has everything arranged within the hand’s reach. The cabinets here are done in plywood with laminate finish. The countertop, meanwhile, has been paved with granite. An adjacent work area completes the kitchen. The family is delighted that the simple interiors exude lots of positive energy that influence their moods too.
