Top Tata literary awards for Tully, Mahapatra

Mumbai: Veteran media personality and former BBC India correspondent, William Mark Tully and renowned Indian poet Jayanta Mahapatra were named for the Tata Literature Live! Lifetime Achievement Award and Poet Laureate Award, respectively for 2018, an official said here on Monday.

The awards will be presented to Tully, 83, and Mahapatra, 90, later this week at the upcoming Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest opening here at three venues from Thursday.

Some of the past recipients of these awards include V.S. Naipaul, Girish Karnad, Amitav Ghosh, Mahashweta Devi, Gulzar, Vikram Seth and Keki Daruwalla.
