Instead of heading to exotic locales, the newlywed couples are now eager to take a plunge in swimming pools. Under water photo shoots are the latest trend in the post wedding photography and the young couples are thrilled to explore their adventurous sides. The bride and groom, in their wedding attire, would look like a dream together, as they romantically pose underwater.
There are two leading photography firms, in Thrissur alone, which specialize in underwater wedding photography.
No oxygen masks
For the underwater photo shoot, the couple does not have to wear heavy diving gear or oxygen mask like in scuba diving. These photo shoots mostly happen in shallow swimming pools which will be less than 5 feet deep. The bride and groom can easily stand and walk in the pool without being scared of drowning.
The couple condition themselves for the photo shoot by spending at least an hour in the swimming pool, controlling their breath and getting familiar with the environment. The body would then be ready to hold breath under water for longer time and the couple can comfortably pose for the pictures.
No fancy camera
There is no need for a fancy camera which is specially equipped for underwater photography. The ordinary DSLR camera that is commonly used by the photographers here is excellent to click some mesmerizing underwater shots. The water proof kits would help while using the camera underwater. Separate covers are used for the camera body and the lens. High quality foreign-made kits, which do not break or leak, cost at least more than one-and-half-lakhs-rupees.
Most of the post wedding underwater photo shoots happen at the swimming pools in various resorts around Poomala and Cheruthuruthy. There are special packages which include amazing stay at these resorts as well. Beautiful attires like elaborate gowns and classy suits are often hired by the couple for the photo shoot. Some may be scared to get into the water. However, everything is handled so professionally that the couples would be given enough confidence and motivation before the photo shoot actually begins.
Within budget
Usually the photo shoot is planned for a day and the package begins from Rs 20,000 onwards. As the photo shoot happens during the day time with ample sunshine, there is no need for elaborate lights or extra crew. However, the number of costumes changed during the photo shoot and the distance of the location may increase the price.
Resorts in Alappuzha, Munnar and Kochi too are opted for underwater photography. Most brides and grooms are interested to pose for amazing underwater shots in their beautiful wedding attires.
Packages which include specially designed picture and video albums of underwater photo shoots too are offered by the firms.
