Thiruvananthapuram: 'Ente Koodu' project which provide comfortable and safe lodging facilities for women and kids who reach the city has kicked off. The facility which functions at the Thampanoor bus terminal is managed by the social justice department. Proper and safe lodging facilities would be provided for women and children up to the age of 12. Mothers and their kids can check in at the facility at 5 in the evening and stay here until 7 am the next day. They can even make use of this facility up to three days as well.

Women and girls who don't have the economic capacity to rent rooms could make use of this facility which has recently been opened here. Boys up to the age of 12 would be allowed to stay with their mothers. Health minister KK Shailaja inaugurated the 'Ente Koodu' lodging facility which functions at the 8th floor of the bus terminal.

Around 50 people can be accommodated at the facility at a time. There are air conditioned rooms available with proper bathroom facilities and a kitchen. The facility offers round the clock security to ensure that women are able to stay in a safe environment. The food and accommodation will be provided free of cost. The project is overseen by the officer of the social justice department, in cooperation with the district administration, police department and other welfare organizations. There are 6 officials including 2 watchmen, a manager and 2 mistresses appointed at the facility to manage it. The social justice department aims to expand the project to other districts as well.
