Alappuzha: The Kerala police have arrested two workers of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in connection with the murder of SFI leader Abhimanyu.
Shah Jahan and Shiharas are accused of plotting and executing subversive activities, and imparting physical training. They are also the neighbours of one of the accused Muhammed, who is absconding. Muhammed is the district president of Campus Front, the student offshoot of the PFI. The police have recovered CDs, laptops and pamphlets from their homes. The police said these had inflammatory contents.
The police had earlier searched a few centres of the PFI in Malappuram district as it intensified its hunt to arrest the prime accused in the killing of the SFI leader at the Maharaja's College in Kochi on July 1.
As part of its campaign against the alleged assailants, the police had raided offices and homes of leaders of PFI and its allied outfits, including the SDPI and Campus Front, in the state and some of its workers were put on preventive arrest.
The police had carried out searches at Satyasarani and Green Valley, two key centres of PFI in Malappuram district.
The police have said only two or three students belonging to the Campus Front were part of the gang of 15-odd people allegedly involved in violent attacks on SFI workers over a minor issue of graffiti on the college wall.
The CPM has alleged that rest of the attackers were either workers of the PFI or SDPI.
