Kottayam: Kunnathukalathil jewellery and finance group owner KV Viswanathan, who was arrested recently for cheating investors, was found dead on the premises of a prominent hospital here on Saturday.

According to sources, he fell off the hospital building, where he was undergoing treatment. He apparently managed to give cops guarding him the slip and climbed the stairs to the terrace.

He was arrested after hundreds of clients alleged fraud. The clients, who joined under the banner 'Kunnathukalathil Depositors Association', had even held protests in the town, forcing the police to take action.

The police had slapped more than 14 cases against Viswanathan, his wife, daughter and son-in-law. He and his wife then moved for insolvency at the Kottayam sub-court.
