Thrissur Vimala College students win Yuva Mastermind season 9 | Complete winners list
The prizes were announced at a ceremony here on Sunday in which ISRO chief K Sivan was the chief guest.

Kochi: An innovative method for cancer drug delivery and treatment developed by Vimala College, Thrissur, won the first prize in college category at the Malayala Manorama-IBS Yuva Mastermind season 9, the grand finale of which was held here on Saturday.

The winners – a team comprising Rakhi Shanker, Anjana C, Aloysia Francis, Anupama Xavier and Adithya A – would take home a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh. Universal Engineering College, Thrissur, won the second prize for their invention of cloud-based visual pattern recognition for security alert. Mohammed Zakeer, Pavin Krishna, Manu Krishna and Mohamed Fayaz won Rs 1 lakh. Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science, Ernakulam, won the third prize (Rs 75,000). The team comprising Albin Kuiriakose, Joseph Kalapurackal, Vaishnavi G Rao and Anjana P, won the prize for an early warning system for hypoglycemia.

First prize (Rs 1 lakh) – AKMHSS, Kottoor, (Henna Sumi PV and Sreejesh S Varier – Biodegradable sanitary napkins using water hyacinth)

Second prize (Rs 75,000) – The Choice School, Thripunithura, ( Kevin Johnson, Joyal Geemon Korah, Sam Abraham Koshy, Navfran Neyas and Hasan Sheraz – Low cost solar dryer)

Third prize (Rs 50,000) – St Berchmans' HSS, Changanassery, (Shiyasmon Shaji, Prince Sebastian, Sachin Xavier, Shinu Joseph – edible spoon and straw).

Amal Jyothi prize for public

First (Rs 1 lakh) – Dr Johna Abraham (Low cost manual milking machine)

Second (Rs 30,000) – Adam Gil Christ Joy, Anson CA, Christy VK, Sreehari CS, Mohammed Zaheer (Cost effective reconnectable overhead system for power lines)

Third (Rs 20,000) – Jisho George and Shaji K Varghese (Fruit banana capping device)

The winners were selected from 59 projects which are meant to make daily life easier. The jury, led by G Vijayaraghavan, founding CEO, Technopark, declared the winners.

IT giant IBS was the main sponsor of the event. The event was held in association with Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirappally, and Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC).
