Thiruvananthapuram: Union members who arrived to lay siege to the headquarters of Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL) at Pattom were blocked by a large posse of police in battle gear.

The left-leaning KSEB Officers Association (KSEBOA) had threatened to lay siege to the headquarters with at least 1,000 members in its bid to browbeat the management. KSEB Chairman B Ashok has earned the wrath of the CPM-affiliated union for not yielding to the pressure tactics of the union members.

The KSEB Officers Association claims on its website it "enjoys the support and membership of around 70 per cent of officers including Engineers of Kerala State Electricity Board Limited."
