Kochi: The Congress leadership in Kerala on Friday said Janata Dal (Secular) supremo and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda's revelation on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has exposed the CPM's unholy nexus with the BJP.

The Opposition party asked Pinarayi to come clean on the former prime minister's revelation that the Kerala CM was in support of the JD(S)' decision to join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Leader of the Opposition in Kerala Assembly V D Satheesan said that Gowda's statement has proved the Congress' allegation that the CPM has been nurturing an unholy nexus with the saffron party.

"It's bizarre that the representative of an ally of the NDA is a member of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) cabinet in Kerala. The CM has not made any response on this yet. We had asked the chief minister to sack the JD(S)' representative in the cabinet. The CM was mum even after we ridiculed that an NDA+LDF government is ruling Kerala. With the revelation of Deve Gowda, it has become evident that BJP leaders were the link between the CM and JD(S)," Satheesan told a press meet at Paravur.

The Congress leader said the chief minister did not have the guts to ask JD(S) to make its stand clear on the NDA entry. "He can't because he is afraid of BJP. The BJP is dictating terms for him," Satheesan said.

Repeating the allegation that the central government agencies' investigation into the gold smuggling and life mission scams has been scuttled due to the BJP-CPM nexus, Satheesan said the Congress fears that a similar kind of settlement is being planned for the ED probe into the Karuvannur cooperative bank scam.

Sue Gowda, Sudhakaran tells Pinarayi

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president K Sudhakaran said Pinarayi's true colours have come out through Gowda's revelations. He said Pinarayi was falling at the feet of BJP fearing he will be arrested by the central agencies in gold smuggling and Life Mission cases.

"The CM should tell the people what's the truth in Gowda's statement. If Gowda's statement is a lie, Pinarayi should sue him," Sudhakaran said.
