Kozhikode youth calls for killing of judge who pronounced death sentence in Ranjeet Sreenivas case

Kozhiode: Police have arrested a 26-year-old man who  called for the killing of judge V G Sreedevi, who awarded death sentences to 15 PFI-SDPI workers for their involvement in the 2021 Ranjeet Sreenivas murder case.

Police acted based on Asarikkandy Muhammer Hadi's, 26, social media post. He was picked up by Peruvannamoozhi police from his work place at Perembra. He was arrested in a case filed by the cops suo motu.

Earlier, three persons were arrested for insulting and threatening the judge through social media. Naseer Mon and Nawaz Naina, natives of Mannancheri in Alappuzha and Rafi, of Thiruvananthapuram, were arrested.

Judge Sreedevi, deeming the case as falling within the category of the "rarest of rare", handed capital punishment to Naisam, Ajmal, Anoop, Mohammed Aslam, Abdul Kalam alias Salam, Abdul Kalam, Saffaruddin, Manshad, Jaseeb Raja, Navas, Sameer, Nazir, Zakir Hussain, Shaji Poovathungal, and Shernas Ashraf on January 30.
