Kozhikode: The Motor Vehicle Department on Thursday suspended the licences of Sabith Rahman from Manjeri and Mohammed Rabees from Edasseri in connection with the death of Vadakara native Alwin while shooting a promo video at Beach Road. The licences were suspended for a period of one year.
Sabith was driving a Mercedes-Benz G-Class with Telangana registration, and Mohammed Rabees of Edasseri drove the Land Rover Defender. Alwin (20), who was employed in the UAE, was killed on Tuesday morning when the Mercedes-Benz G-Class knocked him down during a shoot.
The RTO had earlier clarified that the car that hit Alvin had not been taxed or insured. The G-Wagon is owned by Ashwin, the owner of a Telangana company called Driven by You Mobility. It is believed that Sabit bought the vehicle from them.
Additionally, the RTO said that the vehicle has been running in Kerala for some time and that a challan has been issued for violating the law. Authorities mentioned that the vehicle may be seized as it does not have tax payment documents in Kerala.
