Kochi: The police on Monday filed a chargesheet against actors Edavela Babu and Mukesh in connection with sexual assault cases registered in different stations.

The charge against Edavela Babu alleges that he behaved indecently with an actress, promising her membership in the now-defunct AMMA association. The case was registered at Ernakulam North police station following a complaint by an actress from Aluva.

The chargesheet against Mukesh was submitted to the Vadakkancherry court based on the complaint from the same actress. According to the complaint, the woman was sexually assaulted at a hotel in Vadakkancherry during a film shoot in 2011.

In addition to this case, the police also submitted chargesheets in cases registered at Ponkunnam and Infopark stations following a hairstylist's complaint. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed based on the Hema Committee report, has filed chargesheets in seven cases so far.
