Kottayam: The Kuravilangad police arrested a man on Sunday for carrying out a revenge attack. The accused, Jobson (25), attacked an ice cream vendor for giving a statement against him in a ganja case. 

Jobson, a Uzhavoor native, assaulted the victim on December 26 in the compound of St Stephen's Knanaya Catholic Church. Jobson dragged the victim out of his ice cream vehicle, verbally abused him, and assaulted him with a steel bangle.

Following the victim's complaint, the police booked and arrested Jobson after a probe. According to the FIR, Jobson is charged under Sections 296(b) (obscene act), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 118(2) (causing grievous hurt), and 110 (attempt to culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The investigation was led by Kuravilangadu SHO Ajeeb E, along with Sub Inspectors Mahesh Kumar, Joison Augustine, ASI Baiju, and Civil Police Officer Joji Varghese. Police stated that Jobson is a repeat offender, with multiple cases filed against him at the Kuravilangad and Marangattupally Police Stations. Jobson was presented in court and remanded to judicial custody.
