Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Kerala from October 8 to 10, warning of moderate to heavy rainfall across the state.

On Wednesday, the alert will be in place for Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode and Wayanad. On Thursday, it will extend to Idukki, Palakkad and Malappuram. By Friday, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Kannur will remain under yellow alert. The IMD said these districts are likely to receive rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period.

  • Poor visibility and traffic congestion due to intense rainfall.
  • Temporary traffic disruptions and waterlogging on roads caused by uprooted trees or broken branches.

  • Chances of landslides, mudslides, and lightning strikes.

Authorities have urged residents to stay alert, follow traffic advisories, and avoid vulnerable structures. Farmers are advised to support vegetable pandals, and people are asked to take shelter during thunderstorms and stay updated on weather bulletins.
