Kochi: Manorama Hortus is embarking on a journey in search of regional words, a festival of letters and ideas. The ‘padayatra’ — a journey of words — begins today in Kochi, retracing the local dialects and words from each district.
Mayor M Anil Kumar will flag off the ‘padayatra’ at the Panampilly Nagar campus of Malayala Manorama. Hortus Festival Director N S Madhavan, Editor Philip Matthew, and others will also be present.
The journey will reach selected colleges across 14 districts. Students and teachers can write down regional words, expressions, and their meanings in a book provided in the vehicle. The collected words from all locations will be brought together at the Hortus venue at Subhash Park in Kochi, where it will be displayed as a record of the linguistic diversity of our land.
Come, let’s read
The Human Library, where people tell their stories like books, will be featured at the Manorama Hortus venue. People from different walks of life will share their experiences through ‘My Story.’
The Human Library, which began internationally, will be featured in India for the first time at a literary festival. From November 27 to 30, the Hortus Art, Literature, and Cultural Festival in Kochi will host the Human Library. Every day from 9 am to 10 am, visitors can ‘read’ human books in ‘My Story.’ On the 17th, the first phase of ‘My Story’ will be held at Kochi Idam Art Café from 3 pm to 5.30 pm.
