Kochi: Coming down heavily on the current office-bearers of the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), the body’s former president T C Mathew, who was ordered to pay a sum of Rs 2.16 crore after being found guilty of financial misappropriation by an inquiry commission, said that he was betrayed by those who were 'nurtured' by him.
Calling his detractors 'Brutuses', Mathew said that he was not able to identify their malicious intentions.
He also alleged high level of corruption and mismanagement of funds in some of the developmental activities being undertaken by the association currently, including the construction of stadiums at Thodupuzha and Kasaragod.
"I will file a defamation suit against the KCA members who levelled such baseless allegations. I suppose former KCA secretary Jayesh George is the mastermind behind this orchestrated campaign. The report submitted by the KCA acting secretary Sreejith V Nair was based on false evidence and fabricated testimonies. The Ombudsman’s verdict was unfair since I was not given a chance to offer my side of the story," Mathew said and added that he had plans to move the High Court seeking a fair trial.
