Guyana: Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur scripted history as she became the first Indian woman to score a century in T20Is during opening match of the ICC Women’s World T20 against New Zealand, here on Friday.

The 29-year-old slammed seven fours, eight sixes before eventually being dismissed for 103. The skipper now also has the most number of sixes for India in a T20 innings, beating her own record of five against Sri Lanka in September this year.

Her knock helped the Indian eves post a match-winning 194/5 in 20 overs where they beat the Kiwis by 34 runs. This was also India’s highest ever score at the World T20.

Harmanpreet also became the third-fastest ever in the history of the format to score a century. She is only behind Deandra Dottin and Tammy Beaumont in this illustrious list.
