Kozhikode: Defending champions Gokulam Kerala FC scored a 3-0 win over Aizawl FC in the I-League here on Saturday.

The home side led 1-0 at the half-time break.

Spanish striker Sergio Mendigutxia doubled the lead in the 57th, while Jijo Joseph completed the tally in the 90th.

Aizawl's K C Larchhuakmawia was sent off in the seventh minute of added time.

Gokulam remain in third spot with 33 points from 19 games.

Sreenidi Deccan and RoundGlass Punjab FC lead the table with 40 points. Punjab, though, have played one game less than both Sreenidi and Gokulam.

Gokulam next meet TRAU in an away fixture on Thursday.
