Super Cup: Kerala Blasters down RoundGlass Punjab in opener

Kozhikode: Kerala Blasters beat RoundGlass Punjab FC 3-1 in their Super Cup opener here on Saturday.

Captain Dimitrios Diamantakos converted a penalty to give Blasters the lead in the 41st minute against the I-League champions. 

Nishu Kumar doubled the lead with a curler in the 54th, while Krishna pulled one back for Punjab in the 73rd.

Rahul K P completed the tally for Blasters in the fifth minute of added time.

Assistant coach Frank Dauwen was at the helm for Blasters in place of Ivan Vukomanovic who is serving a 10-match ban after the Yellow Brigade walked out off their ISL knockout match against Bengaluru FC.

Bengaluru FC and Sreenidi Deccan played out a 1-1 draw in the opening Group A game.

Blasters next meet Sreenidi on Wednesday (5 pm).
